Service clubs from Pine View School will distribute more than 40,000 pounds of fresh produce and other food to low-income families in Sarasota. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 27, at Tuttle Elementary School, 2863 8th St in Sarasota.
The Farm Share project in Sarasota is led by PeaceJam. Service clubs Interact and Key Club are also helping organize the project.
“In order to help transport the food, we use a forklift generously donated by the Gold Eagle Distribution Company,” eleventh-grader Victoria Gresbach said. “Over the past few years, the Pine View has community has helped provide found to more than a 1,000 families in Sarasota. It’s an amazing feeling to know that we’ve made a real impact.”
PeaceJam members Gresbach and twelfth-grader Mira Chauhan are co-organizing the event.
