As a way to familiarize ninth- and tenth-graders with the different job fields out there, Pine View administration and parent volunteer Rose Bright put on the first ever Career Day. The event ran from 9:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, at Pine View.
At the event, students were grouped based on their interests, in clusters including health care, business, law, engineering, and technology. There were many interactive activities which exhibited the everyday tasks of different professions to students, from suturing a pigs foot to debating a case. Students rotated between such activities to get a feel for what careers they may want to pursue and get advice on how to achieve their goals from professionals who work in those fields.
“Career Day was really beneficial to me and I learned a lot more about what I might want to do in the future,” tenth-grader Slynia Shi said.
