Located in the heart of St. Armands Circle, Green Zebra Cafe, serves healthy foods, including an immense collection of vegan options for customers to order. The ingredients are organic and come from local vendors.
Eating at Green Zebra Cafe is unique, because eating there is both good for the environment and your body. The owners are very keen on environmental preservation and all the furniture in the establishment is made of repurposed materials. The napkins, trays and cleaning products are all eco-friendly, and the water used in their food is purified by a Tensui Water Perfection System.
“Vegan is not always healthy. With our concept we make everything in the house. Everything is fresh. We use fresh ingredients with our food and everything is blended organic foods and that really makes a big difference. In other restaurants, most of the food prepared comes from something that’s canned but this right here is different,” cafe owner Elena Ianakiev said.
The food served here is as delicious as it is healthy. Customer favorites include the “Santa Monica” and “The Boss,” two of the many breakfast wraps available to order from Green Zebra. The “Santa Monica” is made with avocado, turkey, sun dried tomato pesto, swiss cheese and eggs. “The Boss” is made with feta cheese, tomato, bell peppers, roasted onion, chicken and eggs. Additionally, the cafe also serves a wide variety of vegan lasagnas and spaghetti.
“The owners get a lot of their inspiration from music, like we have the ‘Let It Be.’ It’s a really good juice,” cafe manager Kara Plocharsky said. The “Let It Be” is named after a Beatles’ song, while “The Boss” is named after Bruce Springsteen.
The cafe has been open to the public since August of last year, making it a fairly new establishment in the area. The owners of the cafe, however, are no rookies to the food business. Their cafe was originally located in Wisconsin in 2007, before they moved to Sarasota. The previous establishment went by a different name, but the business today is named in a manner fitting to the menu’s exotic meal choices. The ambiance is family-friendly and enjoyable — the perfect place to sit back after a long day of perusing the stores nearby and have a healthy smoothie or snack.
Green Zebra Cafe is located on 476 John Ringling Boulevard. See there website here for more information.
