The School Advisory Council (SAC) is a body of teachers, parents, and students that meets monthly to discuss important topics like the School Improvement Plan. Check out the candidates running this year.
Ninth grade
Nicholas Jurczyk – “Vote Nicholas Jurczyk to bring back field trips to Pine View.”
Why are you running?
“I want to listen to what’s going on at school, and use that information to help benefit our class. Also, I’d like to bring back field trips to Pine View so that we have more field trips in our class and in all of Pine View.”
What sets you apart from other candidates?
“I think I can do a good job of listening to people and the school advisory council, and basically help our class with fundraising and volunteering, etc. I’d also like to bring back field trips which I don’t think many people want to do.”
“Bring back field trips to Pine View, that’s a large part of it. Also I’d like to help our class fundraise and volunteer and everything.”
What new ideas will you bring to the table?
“I was talking with a friend of ways of fundraising, like we could have a school t-shirt competition or something, and with that we could fundraise and help support our class and get the money we need for graduation and Cobalt.”
Christopher Patrick – “I’m working for you Pine View.”
Why are you running?
“I’m running for SAC Representative because I believe it is a spot where I can do my best and try to help the class office of 2020 to be its best.”
What sets you apart from other candidates?
“What sets me apart is that I am really outgoing and I know how to express myself. As the class of 2020 representative, at the SAC meetings you have to let Pine View know what we want as a class. I’m really good at that and I can get my voice out, I can be heard. I will get our opinions to the masses.”
What do you hope to accomplish if you win?
“I hope to accomplish a better future for our class of 2020 and hopefully create a better record for me so I can be elected again next year.”
What new ideas will you bring to the table?
“I’m looking into lots and lots of fundraising because I think that’s really crucial for us as a class. Also, I’d like to find an easy way for students to sign up and gain service hours. I’d like to have a lot of community service projects here around Pine View, help teachers find teacher’s assistants, and other volunteering opportunities. I’m really looking forward towards increasing fundraising and allowing students to gain more service hours.”
Eleventh grade
Zach Bright – “Zach for SAC, it’s the Bright choice!”
Why are you running?
“I am running for SAC because I like it. This year I have been SAC rep. and I know the job well. I’ve been making sure that our class is heard at meetings with the School Advisory Council. I want to make sure that I keep doing that and helping my class as much as possible.”
What sets you apart from other candidates?
“I am a candidate with experience. I know exactly how the SAC works and how to perform well at meetings. I’m sure to make things are heard from our class so that everyone knows what is going on. But really, what sets me apart the most is my the capability I bring going into it, not only as SAC rep. but also as a class officer.”
What do you hope to accomplish if you win?
“I hope to continue the progress that I have completed this year as SAC, and I hope to make sure that our class continues to be heard. I would also want to make sure that I continue to keep our class officers updated with what goes on in the SAC and how they can function together in a symbiotic relationship.”
What new ideas will bring to the table?
“I think the new ideas I would bring would be continuing voicing our opinions as a class to the School Advisory Council and also voicing the opinions of the School Advisory Council back to the class officers. Basically, keeping in contact with both parties that way, I could introduce new ideas from each party to another if they arise.”
Hadleigh Schwartz
Why are you running?
“I have wanted to be in class office for a pretty long time now but I have been too scared to run. But, I have had a lot of ideas I could bring to the table and going into our last year, I figured this is the time, now or never. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and go for it because I really want to be more involved in our class.”
What sets you apart from other candidates?
“For the last three years I have been indirectly involved in the school improvement process through the principal’s guidance council. Also, I am involved in a broad range of activities. I enjoy exploring all kinds of different areas like music, different types of academics, programming, Spanish, and different volunteer opportunities in the community. This will allow me to have a holistic idea of Pine View and come up with fresher ideas and represent all different groups at Pine View, which I think is important for this particular position.”
What do you hope to accomplish if you win?
“One of my main concerns is creating a learning enviroment thats comfortable, welcoming, and inclusive. I think that cannot be achieved through a particular rule but rather fostering a welcoming culture and having fun our last year at Pine View.”
What new ideas will bring to the table?
“My goal is to create a more inclusive and welcoming enviroment here at Pine View but not necessarily through structured rules. I think it is important that we all are able to relax and talk to each other. That is the unique approach I would like to take on the SAC position.”
