Amidst a group of students erupting in cheers, Principal Dr. Stephen Covert found himself enveloped by a green, viscous substance from head to toe May 23. In a fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, students dropped coins into two empty water jugs in the front office for a chance to see either Coach Lenny Gross or Covert slimed.
In a statement to a crowd of students at the event, Covert said, “The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Florida helps make wishes come true for boys and girls just like [you], who have serious life-threatening medical situations… Fundraisers like this help the [foundation] make that all possible.”
In addition to dropping coins in the jugs at the front office, students also had the opportunity to buy a PV 50th shirt and simultaneously contribute $5 to the cause. In the end, students and staff raised $1,771.65 towards the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Covert was slimed Thursday afternoon on the quad.
