My walk begins, and I am grateful for the sun, even though it gets in my eyes. 
I take a step forward, and I am grateful for a good leaf crunch, even though they’ve fallen off their tree. 
I notice the carrier signal flag has been put down, and I am grateful for the mail I get, even if a majority of it isn’t for me. 
I notice a mushroom in the grass, and I am grateful for the little bit of luck I feel every time I see one, even though it’s just a fungus. 
I notice my dog has stopped in his tracks, and I am grateful for his company, even if he tugs the leash. 
I notice a package at the door, and I am grateful for the bit of excitement I get when I see there’s something for me, even if it’s probably just textbooks or socks. 
I notice I have to take out my other dog, and I am grateful that I get to experience the serenity of our everyday walk once again, even though he tugs the leash too.
