The Theatre Odyssey is hosting the Fourth Annual Student Ten-Minute Playwriting Festival. Students are asked to submit their original ten-minute plays in order to be eligible for the 2016 contest.
Students in grades 9-12 who live in the Gulf Coast Area of Florida are eligible to enter plays.
Each play must be between 9 and 11 minutes, usually about 7 to 11 pages in length with no more than five actors. There is a limit of 3 plays per student, and there is a fee for second and third submissions.
All submissions must be postmarked by Oct. 31 and mailed to Theatre Odyssey.
On November 15, six plays will be announced as the top entries and directors will be assigned and rehearsals will begin.
After the presentations of the six top plays, the first and second place winners will be selected by a panel of judges. The first place winner receives a prize of $500 and the second place winner receives $300. The winning play will be performed at the festival which will be held Jan. 15 to 16 at the Howard Studio Theatre at the State College of Florida.
