Offering a niche and snug environment, Demetrio’s Restaurant & Pizza delights customers with its signature pizza, pastas, subs and Greek specialties.
Family-owned since 1975, Demetrio’s Restaurant & Pizza has provided its own consistent and traditional cookery with a Greek flair that has made the location a staple location in Sarasota. Hungry stomachs are welcomed into a warm and Mediterranean setting, befitting for a casual bite that all can enjoy. The various flora and red accents add to the homey atmosphere. Guests are usually seated quickly and are treated to soft drinks and salads as appetizers. All the items on the menu are reasonably priced, so it is worth trying the different dishes they offer.
Their pizza is a must-try for any customers looking for a new style of the classic dish. Pizza sizes range from 10 to 16 inches and can come with the usual toppings. There is also a gluten-free variant for only two dollars more the regular price, which ranges from $9.25 for the biggest size to $14.95 for the largest.
There are also plenty of varieties of dishes, making visitors regulars as Demetrio’s serves many subs and pastas. Subs run anywhere from typical ham and cheese to more complex ones, such as the eggplant or chicken parmigiana sandwiches. As for pasta dinners, spaghetti, shells, raviolis and lasagna are among the different types offered. These can be served with multiple sauces, such as tomato or garlic, and can also come gluten-free. The pastas cost at least $9 but are never more than $10 depending on the sauce or meat.
Demetrio’s specialties include their parmigiana plates and Greek food. Different meats such as veal and chicken are lathered in parmesan cheese and tomato sauce. Greek recipes, including moussaka, pastichio, gyros and spinach pie, are available to indulge.
After ordering, customers receive complimentary garlic bread with the pasta dinners and can order extra sides, which include various meats such as meatballs or gyro meat and imported Greek olives and feta cheese. Demetrio’s takes its own spin on French fries with zucchini fries and mozzarella cheese wedges.
At the end of the meal, the now full-stomach patrons can order baklava and ice cream truffles on the go. The ice cream is available in several flavors including cookies and cream and mint chocolate chip. For a serving of baklava, it only costs $2.25.
The restaurant also has catering and take-out so that customers can enjoy their food in other ways than dining in. Demetrio’s is open for business at 4410 South Tamiami Trail Sarasota, FL 34231 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekly and serves lunch and dinner.
