In the 2017-2018 school year, Pine View Model United Nations (PV MUN) ranked in the top 50 MUN teams overall in North America. This recognition was earned through the team’s hard work at conferences in and out of Florida throughout the year.
“I know how hard every single one of [the members] work,” twelfth-grader Shelly Barber, PV MUN president, said. “It’s really rewarding to get to see these things that they’re passionate about, and they’re able to excel.”
The top rankings are decided based on each teams’ performances in over 70 prestigious conferences each year. PV MUN participated in conferences such as KnightMUN XVI, GatorMUN XV, BosMUN XVII, and FIMUN 30.
As for now, PV MUN is continuing to grow and reach out to new members. This year, the team will be attending six conferences.
“Last year we started PythonMUN,” tenth-grader Julia Kourelakos, Assistant Conference Coordinator, said. “This is our first year that we’re having students from schools other than Pine View.”
“We have a lot of really talented varsity members who are dedicated and super passionate,” Barber said. “I can see them continuing to excel in what they’re doing.”
