Principal Dr. Stephen Covert made the following announcement over the intercom this morning:
Today, officials of the National Merit Scholarship Program announced the names of approximately 16,000 semi-finalists in the 67th National Merit Scholarship Program.
Over 1.5 million juniors across the nation entered the 2021-22 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2020 Preliminary SAT/NMSQT, which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The nationwide pool of Semi-finalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest scoring entrants in each state.
These academically talented high school seniors have the opportunity to continue in the competition for more than 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million to be offered next spring. Among these include the in-state Benacquisto Scholarship. This year Pine View School is proud to recognize and celebrate the 22 members of the senior class who accomplished this impressive feat.
Congratulations to the 2021-2022 National Merit Semi-Finalists!
